Sorry for your loss. I am glad that you were able to get an explanation and so can understand what happened.

Thank you for the update; it's really good to know what happened, why it happened, that Bruce didn't suffer, and that there was nothing that could've been done to save him. You're still in our thoughts. M&M

Barry, thank you for the update. At least now you know what happened and that you did everything you could. You gave Bruce a beautiful life and although his time on this earth was cut short, I am sure he enjoyed every minute of it. Sending gentle hugs to you and your family.

I know it sounds kind of disrespectful, and I don't mean for it to be, but there was a moment today that I thought maybe God knew duck hunting season was about to start, and since all the old dogs were crossing the Bridge, God felt he needed a promising young dog to get through the season, and he picked Bruce. Something tells me my Brucie Boy is fulfilling his promise on the other side.

BRUCE - May duck filled skies and endless days filled with retrieves be yours in eternity. GOD bless ye Mate as ye brought so much joy to those around ye in ye way too short time here.

Godspeed BRUCE and know that we all stand by Barry for his comfort at ye parting.

Peace to ye Barry, ye love and care of BRUCE is clearly evident to us all.

Thank you for letting us know the results Barry. From my googling on this problem it makes me glad Bruce had no symptoms, you were completely unaware and thus Bruce got to live an active, happy dog life. Not long enough.

What would we do if we knew ahead of time? Constrain the dog to practically no exercise? A dog would not understand that. I think a dog would choose for himself to live as the quote ends, "Wow, what a ride." I found a couple of versions and no definitive answer on who the author is but it deals with living life to the fullest and I know Bruce did. I'm just so sorry, sorry, sorry that your own ride continues without Bruce.

I am very thankful you have an answer and especially that Bruce did not suffer. While the pain of his sudden, much to soon, passing does not end it does soften the edges a bit. Continued prayers for you and your family.

Thank you for sharing the results and thank you for sharing Bruce with us. It's still so sad to think of your loss and the loss of Bruce stories here on the board. My favourite was blowing off Rally to chase after a girl.
Have to admit I've never been a fan of Springsteen, but I know I will always think of your handsome boy when I hear a Springsteen song.

Glad you have an answer. I was guessing it was something along those lines from your description. Years ago a friend lost a Great Pyrenees in a very similar way. It sounds like you are getting closer to achieving some peace with the situation, which I am glad for. I haven’t been able to stop thinking of you since I heard the news.
