a little bit of peanut butter seems to do wonders! but you have to put in the small opening.. otherwise they just lick/suck it out in minutes!!

i use anything i can freeze LOL
someone on here suggested a mix of peanut butter, banana and uncooked oats and freeze it. my 2 love it and it takes about an hour for them to go through it. also, put peanut butter in the small hole and then fill with water and soft kibble and freeze. |

I don't use peanut butter too much, it gave my puppy the runs! I do use mashed bananas, 100%pure pumpkin filling, apples, oatmeal, if I have a little left over steak (this is a HUGE treat in my house!), broken apart rice cakes, cheerios.
I freeze the bananas and pumpkin. It takes longer to get through.

yummy!
I just tried this today for Tyson's lunchtime Kong.
3-4 small peanut butter biscuits (or kibble rolled in a little peanut butter) 3 tablespoons applesauce I poured a little bit of applesuace in to cover the small hole, plugged it with my finger and then put the biscuits inside. Then, I poured the rest of the applesauce in. I stood the kong upside down in a plastic cup for a few hours until the applesauce was frozen through and then I gave it to him. It was a hit!!!!!!! He kept licking it long after it was empty.

Something else I did yesterday for my golden retriever was to fill the small hole with peanut butter, then I broke some dog biscuits and mixed it with banana, and mushed up a little piece of leftover banana and mixed that with applesauce. I froze it and she had a nice time getting her dog-sicle out of the kong.
I'm freezing it now everyday since it's so hot. They seem to love it when it's frozen.

It was a big hit. If your dogs like little pieces of apple, they'll love frozen applesauce. It's like a popsicle!

I love Kongs! What I do is take my dog's portion of food for the day, mix it up with something sticky (canned food, applesauce, potatoes, etc), mix, stuff into different Kongs, freeze over night, then give the next day!
However, if your dog isn't use to working so hard at a Kong (yet), you might want to forget the freezing part. Enjoy! Tonya |

I give the kong inside if it only has biscuits and dry food. When I mix it with applesauce, canned food, peanut butter, etc, I give it to him in the back porch or in the garage.

I have 6 different kongs... I fill them all at the same time and freeze them. I use bananas, carrots, celery, green beans, peas, apples ... whatever we happen to have, then I close off the ends with peanut butter. She gets one every day when I leave to go to work. We have one old bedding on the floor that is used for the kongs. When I open the freezer, she runs to her place and has her kong there, and the mess stays there. It's worked out great !
