In the questionnaire, the previous owner says he gets along with children. His children? It makes me wonder if he's teaching his children that when a living being gets too old or sick, to just abandon them. So, someday, maybe not far in the future, his kids are going to "surrender" him. I hope his kids to to him what he did to Toby.

Don't get me wrong, there are times when someone needs to go to a place where they will get advanced care and that's a hard decision. My DH's grandparents had to make that decision a few years ago and they are healthy, happy and well cared for. But in Toby's case, he was just being abandoned because he was old and that's wrong.

I absolutely hate these stories and will never, ever understand the mentality. Karma, I wish for karma.

that is so sad, we have a senior dog and it's hard to know that her days with us are getting close to an end, thankfully as of now she is still healthy but closing on 11 years old she is showing her age. I couldn't imagine giving her up simply because she's growing old. She is a great dog, and I hope we have 5+ more years with her, it will break my heart when she takes the rainbow bridge to meet our Dixie dog who was poisoned just before we got Kati on 2006. It seems like just yesterday I brought home my tiny Shadow dog at 5 weeks old weighing only 4 pounds, now he's 2 and big and strong, and very loving. Has brought the pup out in Kati, he has lifted her little old lady doggy spirit. How do people surrender a family member like that? That to me is like surrendering your child because you got tired of caring for them because they got sick! Just grrrr!!!
