NYC Lab that was pulled in August 2015 (follow up)

Back in August of last year, this board had mentioned a senior chocolate lab that was at the NYC ACC named "Gina" This is a follow up to that story since I could not reply on an old thread.

Just an an FYI....I pulled Gina from NYCACC last year. I couldnt stand having her spend one more minute in that place. We carried her out of ACC and brought her to a local vet with a doggie wagon. She was the sweetest, most grateful dog I ever met. I spent 5 lovely hours with her in my shady, grassy backyard, showering her with love, and letting her breathe a sigh of relief to be out of that place. That evening, she was transported to rescue (Unwanted NYC Pets) by a kind couple I know, and she spent the next few days with a wonderful rescuer, who had a vet come for a home visit. They knew something more serious was going on, so she made a trip to another vet the next day for testing, where they found she had osteosarcoma. She was in pain, but being brave. She was spoiled for 2 more days then lovingly crossed the rainbow bridge. Here is a link to the Goodbye post and some pictures.

This was their tribute to Gina:

"Do you know it's National Dog Day? Well, it is. I have 3 of my own. They know I love them more than most things in the world...
Today I haven't spent a moment with my dogs. I have been taking care of yours. Yes, that dog you left as if she meant nothing to you. Guess what? You meant the world to her. She cries for you. She sits at the door waiting for you. She won't eat bc she longs for your voice, your touch.
She doesn't know what she did wrong. She doesn't know why you betrayed her. Nevertheless, she remains faithful to you... Hopeful that you will come for her.
Today is National Dog Day and I have your dog. She was rushed to the vet bc something is off more so than her broken heart. I think you knew that. Her tests came back this evening.
Tonight I got her to share pizza with me. She ate 3 whole bites. I praised every moment she seemed interested and then she stopped, as if she started thinking about you again.
Today is National Dog Day and your dog is dying.
She has osteosarcoma better known as cancer of the bones. She is in pain but I believe her heart hurts more than her bones. She wanted to spend her last days, her last moments with you. I know she's comforted you through the years... She let you cry on her, she made you laugh, she laid in bed with you when you were ill. You failed her.
Today is National Dog Day and Friday will be her last day. She is suffering. She whimpers but I can't tell if it's bc her bones hurt or her heart.
One day, you too will be at the end of your life... I hope whomever is responsible for you gives you the same respect you gave her.
You failed her. You are a coward. You are mean. You did not deserve the love she gave you and the loyalty she continues to.
Today is National Dog Day and I will see your dog through her last moments as you didn't have the decency to."

Thank you for helping Gina know that all people are not like her previous owner. My Cracker too had osteosarcoma and never cried out although I knew he was in pain. I kept him well in medication and love because he was my HEART DOG and Nothing would separate me from him until I let him cross the Rainbow Bridge.

What a beautiful dog Gina was as she lived with people who loved her too until she crossed.
