Rescued: Concord, NC - Heavily Pregnant Black Lab and Companion DUMPED

Can someone put this on lab forum ASAP???

November 9 2009 at 9:23 PMLast week someone dumped this VERY pregnant black lab and a young male lab mix outside the Eye Care Clinic in Concord, NC. The employees there have been feeding them.



The mama beds down in a bed of leaves by the steps each night outside the clinic. She looks like she will have puppies any day! It will be raining tonight and tomorrow. The doctors at the clinic want the dogs gone soon, and plan to bring them to Animal Control if a rescue is not found. Can anyone help?

Got this-

They are small dogs and very spooked. However, they are frequenting other businesses around there and those busiensses are going to help the CHS get the dogs. So they have rescue.

Okay, this Mama dog needs your help badly. She is bedding down in the cold and rain each night in the rain. Please, please, please can't someone save her. She was dumped and deserves so much more than this. Begging you to help her.

The eye care clinic was called today. (11/11/09 at 1:00) These dogs are still out there is the rain and cold weather.

NO ONE has gone to get them.
Can someone please offer to help so she can deliver her puppies in comfort? In this weather the pups may not survive.
PLEASE! The doctors are going to be calling animal control to come get them.

Seems like it would be MUCH better IF I dont post the updates I get in emails.
AGAIN, I only posted what I was told.

SO I called and spoke to Valerie, personally.
There are places for them to ALL go and money for their care, BUT they have NOT been able to catch them. Someone is to come tonight after dark or tomorrow and try to catch them both. So until they CAN BE caught, they are still outside but are gettting fed. IF and WHEN they get caught there is placement for ALL of them.
This was all per Valerie. If you have any questions or CAN HELP, please call her directly.

actually, im glad you post updates and hope you will continue, i appreciate it and if it came across another way - it was not meant to - sometimes i dont have time to read a whole thread but look for the updates

i have been bombarded by emails for these two and i sent an update in the form of what you posted and then i have been questioned and questioned again so i empathize with being an 'updater' - i also suggested ppl call directly and speak to jackie - no one wants to do that, i guess

in any event - thank you for calling and the follow up - i am going to send out this latest turn of events and hopefully ppl who want to follow up further or offer their help, can call the parties directly

I heard through the grapevine that she had her pups under a shed or garage. They are trying to get to the pups, but mom is acting slightly aggressively whenever they try. Can't blame her. That was Friday night that I heard this, so I don't know if they made any progress over the weekend. I hope so, it's cold up there.

I posted this on AAL yahoo group, but you may want to crosspost since so many were concerned:



The mama lab mix from Concord Eye Care Clinic is safe in foster care. She was caught along with her puppies and the male lab mix around 11:00 am. today.

I have not been able to confirm, but it sounds like a husband/wife team from Lake Norman Animal Rescue in Mooresville, NC They used empty dog crates, baited with food, to catch the adults, and then went under the storage shed to get the puppies.

As of noon today, the dogs and puppies were on their way to the vet and then into foster care with the rescue. The rescue felt that they were all Chi/Jack Russell mixes of some sort, as they are pretty small. All the puppies were black.
