Rescued:Douglas County - dogs who can be saved TOMORROW with sponsorship!!

Hershey, Rusty, & Seth just need 2 weeks boarding sponsored. I am thinking it'll be about $10/day (were shooting for $5/day but that didn't happen). Also, if Daisy's medical care (trying to raise $250) can be sponsored my rescue will pull her. She is definitely slated to go down so this is pretty much literally a last minute effort on her behalf.

Here's their info & a chip in:

Bump.
Chrissy is at the shelter now I believe and since we have no donations I guess Hershey and her friends are out of luck for now.

Am waiting to hear back from Anne or Chrissy when Chrissy returns from running Douglas dogs all around GA, but the plan was decided that she should pull Hershey, Rusty and Seth, the cocker mix. Seth has sponsor through a member of Saving Georgia Dogs so his boarding is covered. Anne has some start up money for boarding but we still need help. I will need to call the transport coordinator after I get the final rundown.

Hi everyone,

So... here's the story. I did pull all these guys plus Annie yesterday (and Bolo who went to another rescue). I started to feel shakey about the rescue who was supposed to take Hershey, Rusty, & Seth, but since Seth had sponsorship behind him & Rusty was already neutered, & I had a temp foster for Hershey, I didn't think I should leave them there either. I called around and have some people who said they'd help me with placement if the other rescue fell through. Anyway, the rescuer in question gave me a number & said to e-mail them titled URGENT if we needed them since they'd be gone from 9A-1P. I did both & didn't hear back until late last night at which point she said if the dogs were heartworm positive she'd pay up to $200 and then would have to relinquish them & it would be up to the volunteers to decide their fate. I was NOT OK with that & am a firm believe that if you commit to a dog you are commited to it for better or worse. We've done many expensive surgeries, etc because that's what the dog needed, you don't just give up on them. If finances were an issue she should have clarified or started out by saying what they could pay rather than offering to take the dogs & pay all the vetting.

Right now I've decided that Hershey can go to the rescue I pulled Annie for, she was their first choice, she's a better fit for their foster, & her current foster can't hold her long term. Annie is @ my house & either is going to stay with my group or be placed when she's ready. She is emaciated under her somewhat matted messy coat so she needs a lot of TLC before she's even ready to be spayed. Daisy is also with me.

Rusty & Seth are both in boarding so they're more urgent as far as placement, but we'll get their medical done (praying they're heartworm neg.) & go from there. I am going to set up individual widgets for Rusty & Annie. Since Rusty is neutered & we have some funds for him his will be less.

Thanks for your support so far, especially with Miss Daisy, she is WONDERFUL & sweet as can be. She found her spot on our rug in the den and crashed out, after spending 2 months on concrete @ AC she must have thought she was in heaven. Very depressing to see the black 'x' on her cage card & to know such a wonderful soul was marked for death, but AC held her a really long time & they really do care. Unfortunately, no one adopts big dogs from there & very few rescues pull.

Annie is also a doll, very loving & very deserving of a better life. Hershey is great, well adjusted just a happy happy girl. Rusty is also very young, happy, & playful. Seth is a laid back, sweet little man. Super humble & endearing.

Thanks again! Will post revised chip ins shortly. Forgot my camera today but will take pics of Annie & Daisy @ my house & see if I can get some pics of the others.

-Chrissy

Annie pics & widget. Can't tell how thin she is from the pictures but she's skin & bones under that fur & her tail/some other spots are very matted. We have a call into our groomer to get her the spa treatment

Chrissy, you do some remarkable things. Thank you ever so much. Daphne is gonna clean up to one beuatiful girl I am sure. Such a pretty face.
I am just so happy that Hershey is out FINALLY. She probably wouldn't have made it past yesterday if you hadn't pulled her. She has been there a long time.
