I mentioned hanging a bell on the doorknob. But I never ran into Ruger turning it against me! It worked like a charm for me. Sorry it's not for you!

It might sound strange but we put a big white stuffed bear in the crate. The pup snuggled with it and even though Ruger is older now, and he no longer snuggles with it,he still likes it in the crate....
Nope. Been to them. Had bad experiences with untrained or mean dogs and clueless owners. Not even close to being worth it. Its much better to find friends who have dogs that you would like to have...
Also, pay close attention to the pooch when he is exploring his new house. He/she will have "tells" that will clue you in that its time to go outside. And keep in mind that their bladders are...
She is a fine looking specimen!

I agree. No bath necessary. Set up an appointment with a Vet. Bring him in for his exam. Make sure you know what shots he already has. Vet will baseline him/her and set you up with a plan for...
I agree that it's probably not pain related. He got afraid or something. Ruger used to be inconsistent with stairs, but it came and went in phases. If it were me, I would sit my butt on the top of...
This kinda happened when Ruger got home. Although I am no expert on this by any means, we actually put up the room divider gates to keep the older dog off the pup. You will have to climb over the...

Be firm in your leadership. It will pass.

This is exactly why when I walk Ruger, I actually to have 2 Rugers.........if their owner cannot control them, and I am forced to, then I will.
My thing is, I have strained to see a redeeming...

I absolutely love the look of this pup. What a cutie.
Hello all. I got busy posting replies and then remembered that I didn't formally introduce myself. Sorry about that. At any rate, I have a 14 month old field Labrador named Ruger. Got him at 8 weeks...
They never stop chewing. Marrow bones are on the grocery list every time. Cycle the used, hollowed out ones for the new ones every week. If the marrow gives them loose bowel movements, throw some...
One thing I forgot to mention regarding your training question. My thought is to train the pup on as much as he can absorb, but keep training short in timespan for now. But make sure you make a big...
Great news. If my Ruger is any indication then scratches, abrasions, little cuts, and small spots of temporarily missing fur (all from collisions with everything under the sun) will be the normal...
1. adjustable wire crate located where you want it for the long term
2. Kongs, ropes, balls, small foam Frisbee
3. Bowls for water and food
4. Small bell on a string. Tie the string to the door...
Buckley is adorable. I would keep my eyes on her eye.
