Katie Is Thrilled With Her Santa Paws

    Oh, this looks very interesting.

My own snowman, easy to carry around.

I kinda like the paper stuff too!

Santa Paws asked me what I wanted and I told him about chasing squirrels but not having caught one yet. I got my very own squirrel.

And he sent me a very pretty collar and leash.

AND, the best ever treats. Mom said they smelled like blueberries, whatever they are. I just know they tasted yummy and I woofed for them.

Santa Paws sent soooo much, even some delicious looking noms for Mom and Dad.

Thank you Santa Paws, OHfemail and Gabby, for being so generous.

We were seriously thrilled to find that shockingly realistic squirrel. It was an exciting and fun experience, and it looks like Katie woofed it up. The human treats have a bit of history this year.

The round ones are called buckeyes, for Ohio's state tree. My MIL is the candy lady in the family, but had a hip replacement done December 7th, so she's been living with us until she recuperates. At almost 90 years young, she had to give up candy making for the first time in over 50 years. As a point of great pride, she has always said that her candy recipes will "go with her", since she won't have anyone else making her recipes and passing them off as being just like hers. She's always provided buckeyes for Gabby's Secret Santa humans, and I despaired about not having them this year. The MIL decided she was feeling well enough to let me assist in the process (although she did kick me out of the kitchen a few times!) I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them with her. Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful story and gift you have given us with the buckeyes. Please let your MIL know we truly appreciate her, and you, sharing them with us. Also tell her, with a little patience and healing time, she is going to do just fine. The fact that she is up and about is amazing. Geez, I wasn't even 70 when my hip was replaced and she is impressing me no end.

Katie was a little tentative at first but once DH showed her that ripping the paper was OK, she dove in. The squirrel now resides in her favorite spot on the couch and the snow man is in her bed by the computer. She loves them.

A little of a back story here: Katie went with her previous owner hunting and did the retrieving. When she first picked up the squirrel I asked her to hold it so a picture could be taken. Gave her the OK command, which is her release command, and she did not drop it. I had to try several words hoping I would find the right one. She finally let it go with drop it. I'm going to ask her previous owner what command they used so as not to confuse her. She wanted those treats so bad she initiated the "speak" by herself, had us laughing so hard. For her first experience with Santa Paws, she had a grand time and I thank you all so much for making our girl so happy.

I might just have to buy one of those squirrels

Katie looks so happy . Seems that was the catch of her day.

    Merry Christmas
