Four weeks is still textbook. I know a Siberian who got pregnant on day 28 or 29.
I'm completely confused about the female heat cycle. This is now October 30 and I see again more of this rust colored discharge. I took China home on the 1st and saw it later that night but it was more reddish. 4 weeks? I don't see it every day and when I do it is only a tiny bit but is this normal? To go on this long??

thank you, it's hard to get good info. online about it, I keep finding vague information.
how about 5 weeks?? I am at a loss...I saw another spot this morning. Small spot and it's very light brown now. I relate this to a humans cycle in the sense that it is getting lighter and clearer, but 5 weeks???? I have not had her back in to the vet's meanwhile because Dakota had to have her surgery. Now that that is done I am going to call the vet to ask about this...I'm confused as to how long we should see any kind of discharge at all no matter how light in color...
Split season? Or just leftover stuff?

A split season is when they start, kind of take a hiatus in the middle and finish up later. If she’s been bleeding consistently for the whole time that’s probably not it.
Have you talked to her former owner? Maybe this is just normal for her ... I think dogs vary in their cycles just like we do, but none of mine have ever lasted 5 weeks ... 3 or a little over is more typical of my girls.

I'm going to email the other people to ask...
It has not been steady, I have not seen blood every day since the first week, more like a spot or 2 here or there and decreasing...and she was swollen, that I can tell now because she seems to have calmed down there so I can tell the difference form before & now. It was more the 1st few times I saw it too, now its a drop and its not blood blood but the rusty turning clearer type of discharge...
