Fran has another mystery gut infection.

We took her in because she was shaking so much and she was running a fever of 104.8 and had all kinds of gas. Tests showed just an elevated white blood cell count. They sent more blood out and we'll get those results tomorrow. She's resting comfortably now after a pain med shot, flagyl and clavamox but it bothers me that we don't know how this is happening. It's the second time in a year or so. Her diet is strictly controlled and she never stays outside if we're not there. Drives me crazy.

Hope it's nothing more serious than a weird tendency....good thoughts headed your way!

Do you give her a good probiotic daily? Labs are notorious for eating whatever, so it's a staple around here!

Ah, so sorry. I can appreciate the gas problem.

Sending mojo and prayers that whatever it is clears up quickly.

I hate those mysteries. Even if they do clear up you have no idea how to prevent them recurring or sometimes if they do you might not recognize them. Good thoughts for Fran and you.

She's good today. Temp down to 102.7. Our conventional vet is more than a little confused. She had the xrays reviewed by a radiologist and nothing. The formal blood work came back and that's good. Fran pooped a huge amount this afternoon but there didn't seem to be anything in it. Just weird.
