I know what you are going through, as my German shepherd is almost 13 (quite old for a GSD) and I know what a roller coaster ride the late winter of their lives can be. One day I think it's time, the next day I wonder what I could have been thinking of because she seems lots better. Heidi is on Proin for incontinence and it has worked remarkably well for us. It isn't real expensive. I give her the least possible dosage that works. You might ask your vet about it. We just put her on Rimadyl for the pain from her hip dysplasia. Good luck and enjoy every day.

I too know about the ups and downs of senior dogs.
Buddy recently got put on meloxican (anti inflammatory)
    and Gabapentin(for nerve pain)
he also has some sort of skin infection, but the antibiotic
is finally kicking in, he needed a larger dose.
sometimes they are in pain, and you cant tell. so glad the
vet suggested those meds ! It has made a huge difference.
HOWEVER, because of his hind end weakness, and Laryngeal
Paralysis, he sometimes poops in his sleep, or in the house,
and it seems like he doesnt even know he is doing it.
I dont really mind, I am happy he is still here and doing better !
