Keeping my fingers crossed that the appointment goes well. As for diabetes, from what I know overweight dogs are at bigger risk, and it may be food related, but sometimes you just don't know. Sometimes it's genetic. There are different types of diabetes.
But even if it is diabetes, it's manageable with meds and dogs (and people) can live long happy lives when it's under control.

Thanks Berna. I thought over weight too....but I guess there's a myriad of things this could be...I'm bringing her in at 4:30 today. I'll update after.

I don't have any advice, however sending good thoughts that you get to the bottom of all of the issues.

Update: not diabetes. Dr. reviewed blood work from a month ago and said it was perfect. As for her weight- she said it's fine. Seizures- she's not sure. Basically she wants to do a urinalysis but we couldn't get any urine because I had just had her out at home before rushing to the appointment. Ugh. I knew I should have collected it myself at home first. Anyway we will get it tomorrow and see first what that that tells us. A lot of this could be just attributed to her age. So we will see.

I hope you'll be able to get a diagnosis from the urinalysis. Not knowing is the worst.

So the vets office called to let me know that the urinalysis is normal as well. There appears to be, outside of the seizures, nothing wrong with Dakota. She seems to be, for the age of
12 1/2, a pretty healthy little girl. I must be officially a lunatic lol. They said that the amount of water she is drinking, although it may be an increase, is not the increase they'd see if she was beginning diabetes or something like that. The vet said that if there were to be a small tumor in her head causing the seizures or acting starving all the time, that an MRI would be the next step. She says though that she doesn't feel that is necessary just yet. She wants me to keep a journal of the seizures and of course share the info. with her. Better to be safe than sorry, I am glad I had her revisit the blood work and urinalysis. If I'm not worrying about my dd, its one of the dogs LOL.
China seems to be finally having a breakthrough with her ears. Finally I see some of the yucky stuff making its way to the top of the ear canal, so it's loosening,. I know its packed pretty deep in there but at least this is a start. Even though she is on Prednisone though, she still is itchy. I am guessing food allergies. I thought I was giving her grain free (idiot of me) but it doesn't actually say grain free, it says something else. I am going back for the one that says GRAIN FREE.
