We have had 3 Pugs over the years, & they seem to be pretty prone to anal gland issues. Our 1st & 2nd Pugs had to have theirs emptied by the vet regularly--not every 2 weeks, but probably every month or month & a half. Once Rugby's anal glands got so infected, one of them ruptured on one side, & then a month later, the other one ruptured. It was very painful for her, & it was bloody & messy, & required antibiotics. Thankfully the Pug we have now hasn't had a problem with those, YET, but she does have one bladder infection after another. Lab Molly has only had one or maybe 2 anal gland problems during her 12 years, & she has been a very healthy, sweet & precious girl. Unfortunately, she is now having a lot of problems getting up, most likely due to arthritis. A lot of Pug owners give their Pugs a small amount of canned pumpkin for fiber (not the pie filling kind--the plain canned pumpkin). Good luck & please let us know how she does.
