My Frankie... I miss this kitty. 20lbs of crazy. I think he was just a little kitty in this one. It took him 4 years to reach full size and oh so much food, but he was a giant...

I ended up buying the furminator for the cat. He actually likes it. I asked the vets about using it on Sage and they both agreed his skin would tolerate it well a couple times a week. We've been very successful with it, but his coat is still so thick. It's crazy. He's starting to have some labored breathing and still has that bad knee, but no health problems otherwise. I was even told those high enzymes were really not that high and no cause for concern. Our biggest issues are still keeping him cool in the heat and keeping the fur layer under control. So much fur. And of course, keeping him out of everyone else's food.

As others mentioned, rake and zoom groom. I just use a generic rake I picked up at Target. And the Zoom Groom is amazing. Samson and I sit outside and just watch the fur fly in the wind! I often wonder if my neighbor will ever notice the big white patch of grass in their backyard after I finish up! Asher is almost 8 months so I'm sure we will be experiencing a hefty shedding soon enough.

I have a main coon mix too, Mr. Winston. He's a young fella at 9 months old. Haven't experienced the shedding with him yet.

This year Oban is having the heaviest shed I've seen in the nine and a half years we've had him. Hair is still coming out, months after it started.

All three of mine are shedding now. Cookie has been constantly shedding since she was 2 weeks old - it gets worse seasonally, but it is pretty much always happening. Chloe used to be twice a year blow-outs, but since we had her spayed last year her coat is changing and she’s shedding more on a regular basis. Sass started her first ever shed a few weeks ago and is blowing coat like crazy.
