Wow I can't believe you have been picking her up! Strong! Good luck with the steak! I know I would do it for steak I have found down is the tougher way to get them to use a step or ramp. Years ago we started using an attachable step to get into our xterra, which would great for getting in but using it to get out we never really were able to get him to do. The ramp currently is not an option being post surgery so I do hold his collar so he doesn't get any funny ideas of leaping out.

Dakota uses the ramp into the back of my Traverse (and just this past weekend hesitated, I think because her back legs have gotten a bit weaker (she's 12 1/5 yrs. old) My 10 yo dd and I worked together to get China onto teh ramp but she planted.
I am going to try steak. If that does not work I am at a loss.
    I didn't realize there was a similar thread 😂
I guess they just don't like them! Sage literally buried his ramp. We really only need it right now for getting him in and out of the pool because lifting 100lbs over your head each way is kind of hard (there is one inside and outside the pool). But with his knee, he will eventually actually need it. My best friend and I will try steak and see if that works, just to go flat. The weight limit on the ramp is well over what he is... but I understand his trepidation, especially with his size... there is a lot more him than there is ramp and we bought the biggest size we could find.

I had to use the service vest to pull him up an escalator recently to get him to try it. He actually was pretty happy about it once he got up there (no stairs!). Funny dogs...

Our collie Ruthie needed a ramp to get in and out of the house (my husband still had to lift her into the car).....he built one out of wood, it was much wider and gradual than a manufactured ramp and she took to it fine as did the rest of them (and us as it was the only way to get in the breezeway door)....I should be training the 2 youngsters now because as they age so am I!

I know part of Sage's issue with his is that we tried him going up too quickly and it's quite an angle going into a high pool. If it were gradual, it would just be the texture (which he also hates, but it's designed to prevent him from slipping).

We used a towel to cover the ramp, lowered the incline, and waited until he was hurting and he went up easily. When it was time to come down, we covered the ramp only halfway (his top half). The next time, no towel. Treats each time. Easy.
