Thanks for keeping the prayers and support coming...Here is a bit of an update.. We got the blood work test results back and apparently the cancer was not in her blood (the good news). However, the vet did not mention changing the plan. We were second guessing ourselves whether or not we should have done the surgery after getting the blood work back. But the other night I watched my poor girl really starting to struggle to go and the second guessing is gone now. Sadly, the vet was right with how aggressive this type of cancer can really be. We are going to start giving her pumpkin like the vet suggested but I know it is only going to help so much. She is still eating normally and stills wants to eat everything like Labs do so at least that is good.

I hope you'll have more good quality time left than you're anticipating...she knows you're helping her and that goes a long way to maintain her comfort level. (fear is as bad as pain as far as I'm concerned...fear/tension can exacerbate pain).

All good thoughts headed your way.

I've lost three Retrievers to cancer. The last one we adopted at the shelter that had cancer and had been abandoned. It is a tough ordeal but it can be a heartwarming ordeal as well. Sending you good thoughts.
