      Leptospirosis?

Yesterday Ram was stiff in his back legs and couldn't do the stairs. On Saturday he was drinking from a little stream when we were out. Do you know if Lepto symptoms would hit that fast? We have an appt. today at 5:00pm.

Dr. Google says onset is usually 4-12 days after exposure, so it seems unlikely. Is he running a fever? If not, then I would suspect something else. Be sure you ask to have him tested for tick-borne diseases as well, but it all likelihood he just pulled a muscle or something. Sending good thoughts.

Thank you. He had his first ever tick on April 7th and they told me that nothing would show in his blood until 6 weeks after. I had never seen a tick before so I took him to the vet for a tick or skin tag check.

Yikes. I hope it has nothing to do with that tick. That would be more likely than fast symptoms for Lepto.

      Keep us posted....sending good thoughts.

Doesn't sound like lepto to me. Could be arthritis.

The vet felt that his hips and lower back were very tight and sore. She took some blood for his senior panel now and we'll go back in a couple of weeks to do the blood test for the tick borne diseases. He has Metacam for 10 days and I ordered Traumeel and Zeel (original products) from the UK.

I managed to get him upstairs last night by putting a treat on the top step so he let me give his bum a boost. I also removed my bed frame so he could sleep on my bed.

When my Hershey's spinal stenosis first started showing signs, he was misdiagnosed as having strained his lower back/groin muscles...they were very tight. Some of his PT hurt him and I just knew something wasn't right. When his muscles relaxed, he could no longer control those back legs...that tightness was his body's deliberate act to allow him to keep some control.

I hope it's not this but thought I'd mention it after hearing what you were told.

Yesterday after work Ram followed me when I went upstairs to get changed with no hesitation at all. I am so relieved.
