RoadTrip: Update (and more on the LP front)

The trip was good, glad I went. Rocky was quite happy and exited (those who know LP probably see where that is going!) so it was great. He likes to just snooze. The actual travelling was a non issue. The step up worked really well with the truck (and I used the harness). He may have been a tad more "stiff" coming out but only for a brief moment. He had tons of room really. My niece and nephew were with us at the cottage and were great with him. My nephew quite likes rocky and is now old enough to be completely appropriate and gentle. I was even able to sleep at night (I tend to worry about each noise he makes and didn't have a fan (white noise) to muffle some of it haha.

    Weather was mild (to cold).

On saturday morning I let him off leash for our walk. The terrain is VERY hilly. Big hills up and down all over. Rocky's nose was going overtime and he was TRUCKING thru the trails. Then he stops and i see him sorta spit and then get gaspy (gutteral noises). I made him stop moving and pet him to calm him down. He didn't lay down or anything and wanted to move. Once the noises stopped and he rested some we slowly made our way back home. This was...6 or so minutes into the walk. he was fine, I kept him on leash, we walked slow and make lots of stops. my mom and the kids had run back for some water (which he did not drink really, until we got back home). I really had to work hard to slow him down. He has no interest in laying down. The gutteral weezing/gaspy was maybe 30 seconds? maybe less. So we took it easy the rest of the day, he was fine chilling outside in the sun (it wasn't super warm). We walked around the property. Sunday we took short walks, on leash, moving more slowly. So...some lessons learned there.

He did it again after getting home, I walked him around the block to stretch his legs and do his business (before bringin him up the stairs at home) but once we got back in I rushed the stairs too much and he did the gaspy thing for maybe 10-15 seconds once he got up. Stairs are having to be re-introduced as he gets used to them again. He did them again last night and this morning with no issues so I don't think we need to stop stairs, just not right after a walk if he is panty. I can work with that.

The LP breathing issues just seems to be ramping up fast. Excitement is going to be a BIG one to watch out for for Rocky.

    Photos will be posted soon

Glad to hear you BOTH had a good time. You are doing an excellent job of balancing his enjoyment of the trip and monitoring his problems.

Overall it sounds like you made a good decision to take him along, after all he is your companion and you are his love.
