Something I picked up on clearance at the end of last summer was a cooling towel. I haven't used it yet but the concept is to soak it in water, wring it out and put it around your neck to keep you cool. It isn't very big or heavy (probably the water will add some weight but not as much as ice). It's designed for humans and aren't very big but maybe a couple sewn together so they stay on Rocky like a vest or a way to tie one around his neck like a bandana would help keep Rocky cool.

They would be in sporting goods stores or departments and were not very expensive. People say the same concept works with towels in general but I think these are thinner, lighter and don't drip as much...at least that's what I'm hoping.

You weren't whiny. You were concerned and worried and lucky there are folks here with experience with LP. I'm not one of those but I do know what it's like to have ailments in an old pet, old human too. It can make you sick with worry. Tell us, ask us, we will all try to help and ease your mind. Try to keep your cool and stay cool, hot weekend starting.

Rocky's a lucky dog. I don't know about LP other than what I've read here but sounds like you're doing everything you can for him.

I feel for you and Rocky...My Tanner had LP and the end was hard, ....If you look at the age, Rocky has done well...but the one day too soon vs. one day too late protocol is something to think about. Stress and heat can definitely amplify the LP condition.

Sending support for you and Rocky during this difficult time....
