I bought this cooling pad form Dr Foster & Smith, you can put it under a sheet or blanket-its basically like an ice pack you would put in a lunch box but bigger so they have something cold to lay on. She moves off of it but I constantly wake up and put it back near her to help keep her cool My dh puts the AC to like 78-80 at night thinking oh we're asleep anyway...but she gets too warm and I do too, so I turn it down and get this pad out...
ah yes we have some of those cooling pads, I was thinking it was something different!

And yes, rocky got some offleash time in onleash areas I normally rant about there being offlleash dogs in. But seriously i can outrun him, he isn't going fast and I keep him close (or well, keep myself close to him).

Know what you mean about the running. Oban's ortho rehab said leashed walks no more than half an hour. He doesn't understand that, so I don't leash him. I do try to keep to the time.
---Hmmm...I wonder if I really should be shortening her walks...but I work so I like to get her out for as long as I can every night that the weather allows.

--So what does Rocky think of the cooling pads? Do you think they help? Dakota moves off hers all the time ( I guess I would too because they are hard when frozen lol) I think they help though if I can keep it close to her, I usually put it near her neck or head or her feet depends on how she's laying

She’ll let you know when/if she needs them shortened. Either she’ll act like she’s exhausted while out or sore afterwards. I’ve found my oldsters didn’t need their walks shortened so much (unless due to hot weather) as they needed them slowed. They could go for LONG walks at a very slow pace, LOL, but weren’t able to keep up with a faster pace anymore. I ended up taking the younger dog(s) out on a different walk so the oldies could do things at their pace. Let her be the guide - sounds like she is doing well, all things considered.
