We do the sit-stand as well as sit-down-stand as part of Chloe’s therapy for her weak back leg, too.

    Thanks again everyone.

Yes I have AC, got a new unit late last summer. The house is COLD (seriously). I will ask again about pain meds.

We did more stretches before but I get antsy now as he gets SOOO exited at meal times. But I am finding ways to do them ... just in a different routine than just at meals. We do sit/stands. walk backwards (getting much harder for him) and some stretches on the steps. I have a few fitpaws he could balance his front legs on but he can be clumsy so i always worry he'll stumble (even as I try to help).

Rocky does not pee or poop in the yard. nor does he really move around much. So I leash him up and we cross the street to some green space and walk back and forth (so if he pants we can bee-line indoors, if he doesn't we can just keep going). He's doing this thing where he won't pee after work :P Again something I need to get over as he clearly doesn't care. It's really hot but he hasn't peed since 6am so I take him out after work (4pm)and he won't pee. so we do multiple in and outs (in to cool down/rest, try again). we'll see if it improves with the slightly less hot weather He had done this awhile back (pretty sure when it was hot) and then got better but maybe that was because our walks were a wee bit longer.

The last treatment took a few days to help (it always does) and his body seemed better for a week but it's declined again. he's probably need to go every two weeks but i can't afford that (it's like $200/treatment all in) AND I am pretty stressed about bringing him in at all (because he stresses :P ) His feeling better also coincided with the great decline in ability to walk much.

    How was Rocky's LP diagnosed?

Our walks after work are reduced to going across the street to the park to poop and then we come back in due to his panting. We do a walk around the block after it gets dark but he still pants quite a bit due to the humidity. I need to take him in to get a refill on Tramadol but I don't want to be dinged for thousands of dollars in diagnostics if I mention my concerns about LP.

Nothing fancy. Mostly based on age/breed/symptoms (the "panting" that isn't just light panting. The bark (or lack there-of). That's all. I had lots of videos of him breathing/panting. Other symptoms are coughs. He sometimes did this weird throaty noise. Last summer he was very panty and didn't work much but I didn't really related it to LP. He just always hard trouble with summers and it was just panitng. he'd also just plop on the ground when needed (which he does NOT do now)

In the LP group they say you should scope and blah blah blah for an actual diagnosis. While true, I can't spend $1500 to diagnose what is the likely cause (and regardless, I won't be doing anything special to treat). I don't spend much time in the groups as they tend to be very pro surgery which is not something I am considering at all.

My issue with Rocky isn't it isn't just "panting" is is more struggling to breath sorta right away.

The first "signs" other than loss of bark was in December. He would pant on a walk when it was cold. But it was sporadic. Through winter we walked thru the panting (it was still "panting"). Come May with the first heat wave things sorta went downhill and they have been steadily since then. But we're managing.

Mornings are his best time. Some days better than others (seems random). Evenings are his worse. I haven't figured out why, I suspect it is because he is sorta up and moving a lot in general in the evening so he's starting off exited.

My vet said August is THE WORST month. So hopefully Ram starts improving some come September. My vet said I should hopefully see a minor improvement in Rock once we get passed august. He also confirmed a question I had about the hot summer leading to more seizures, heart issues (Penny died on a hot day at the end of July and I kept seeing other dogs die suddenly of heart related issues in hot weeks).
