I let her off leash again

This morning, beautiful morning not too hot yet, stepped outside for a few minutes to hose off the front steps ( darn chickens pooped in front of my door!!) and the girls followed. No leashes, but I thought oh we're out for a second. I hosed off the steps and was putting the hose back and telling Dakota how sweet she looked just standing there smiling at me and out of nowhere she took off like a shot barking! There she ran towards the road- no worries there's a fence I say to myself in between screams of STAY!! and NO!! and Dakota are you freaking crazy??!!! There was a man walking his Doberman down the road -calmly said Good morning to me as I stood there gasping for air from running after Dakota. I told him Im so very sorry, shes 13 years old!!! why would I think shed do that??!! Dakota has never been fond of anyone walking past our house, she always barks and being outside she decided to take it to another level and charge.
I was so embarrassed. I always follow the leash laws. I do. but this one time...thank God there's the fence, if there wasn't I wouldn't have let them slide out without leashes. I have to say-that running was amazing. She did not look 13 and for a moment it felt good to watch her go. Not as fast as he used to be but I think she was hesitating because of my yelling. After she walked away from the fence & the guy & his dog were gone, she went over to pee and China THEN decides to let out one single bark. One. LOL. She just doesn't bark idk why...
we came inside and they got their treats & went to lay down watching me do dishes. She panted a little but not like I would have thought after a sprint like that.

Haha they keep us on our toes! glads he is safe and had a bit of fun at your expense (and the poor man walking by)

and yes you can be the leash law/responsible dog owner 99.9% of the time (or 97%) and you'll always get caught out on that 0.1%

    Go Dakota go!

OH oh - so Rocky only does stairs when I help him with the harness. I use baby gates to ensure he can't try to go up/down alone (to be super safe but he doesn't really try). Wouldn't you know it I left him on the basemen floor (which is really road level as I live in a walk-up) without a gate for 5 minutes Saturday to cool down before I bring him up and what do I hear but the Bang Bang Bang of a Mr Rocky walking UP THE STAIRS ALONE! I guess the BBQ steak smelled good enough to venture up after me :P Thank GOD he made it up safely (upstairs is safer than down the stairs too)

HA! I love it, steak would be enough to get mine to do stuff they normally wouldn't do too.
