    This panting

Dakota has been panting more & more lately. An incident with some loud thunder last week had her teeth literally chattering and she was of course panting a lot. Last night more of this panting and shaking | shivering and yup-panting. There was no thunder last night. It's getting increasingly difficult (just the past 2 days so far) for her to get up if she's on the hard wood floor. Last night and this morning I had to help her because I haven't got a sling yet and I had to REALLY basically lift her off the floor and hold her up until she steadied.

I realize we cant tell what exactly is going on until we see the vet but I wanted to pop in for some board mojo for my sweet girl. I feel like her left back leg in particular is causing either pain or maybe she cant even feel it. Maybe its falling asleep as she lays in the same spot too long. I'm not sure. There is definitely a weird kind of shivering from her shoulders up. Occasionally. It's not a constant thing but I've seen it more last night and this morning.

Ideas? I researched panting and saw a lot of Cushings stuff...Does anyone have experience with that?
I was hoping to get paid once more before making her appt. but I'm not sure about waiting...checked the camera and I see her on her bed and panting rather than laying and sleeping as usual.

    sending good thoughts

Panting for me these days is LP but I realize that isn't the only cause by any means. It could be a new anxiety related thing?

I wonder if this could be Cushings. I see her on the pup cam still panting. All day. I better get her in tonight...

The first incident you describe (thunder) is most probably because of stress.

As for the other incidents, I wonder if she is in pain. If she is on pain medication already, I'd go for a check-up and see if the vet wants to modify her anti-pain meds.

It is not good. I got home from work to find she was still in the same spot on her bed. She couldn't get up. I called the vet and they were booked. 13 years and thousands of dollars and they couldn't squeeze us in. I found an emergency vet and got my neighbor to help me get her in the truck. The vet found a huge mass in her abdomen that is bright red and most likely a return of the Mast cell cancer. As well as worsened arthritis he found that upon pressing gently on her back it pinches a nerve. He gave her a few injections of anti-inflammatory, did blood work and a needle aspiration of the mass. He can't say for sure it is mast cell and did see a lot of blood which he said is not a good sign. Will know more in a day or 2. Meanwhile she stood in the truck the whole way there and walked inside. Her back leg that she was laying on all day is super weird like she's limping on it a lot it's probably numb and painful on and off. She walked out and fell when I tried to get her in. Got her in and she stood the ride home. My husband carried her in side and she stood and drank and ate and then laid down and that is where she is now. I do not know know what tomorrow will bring. I don't know if I will get her to stand again. I can't cry because if I start I'm not gonna stop. My heart is breaking. What if I can't get her up...oh my goodness. So she's pretty much covered for pain but I'm afraid about this not moving. Because I know what that means.
Hang in there with me guys. Please. Again.

Thank you all for the mojo.

I am so so sorry. Keeping my fingers crossed that she feels better soon and that the mass is not cancerous. Hugs to you.
