If it were me, I'd probably go ahead & have the surgery, & keep my fingers crossed that she does o.k with anesthesia, etc. This would depend on the pre-surgery blood work, which can indicate if there is some existing problem. If the blood word is fine, I would likely go through with it. We will all be "waiting with you!" You are not alone!
We used to have a dog, Cody, who had a big fatty lipoma between her shoulder blades. It was huge & hard, & I didn't see how she could be comfortable with that thing being where it was, so I opted for surgery. Cody did fine, but it did take her longer to come out of the anesthesia, and the recovery process did seem much harder & longer than it did for, say, her spay, or dentals, etc, when she was young.
Now, our Lab, Molly, has fatty lipoma's, some of which are huge, but I won't have surgery on those this time. There are many of them, & with Molly's arthritis, etc, I don't want her to go through surgery unless she has to. Now, if she had something growing on her eyelid that was causing her pain or irritation, I'd want the vet to take it off if possible, hoping that the surgery would not take long, & the vet wouldn't have to keep her under anesthesia very long.
Please let us know what you decide, & if you decide on surgery, please let us know when it will be so we can all wait with you......Hugs to you & precious Cilek!
