Oh no. Your post brought tears to my eyes. Holding you and Molly in the light, and hoping the vet had ideas to help.

Thanks so much, everybody! Well, yay, Molly gets a reprieve, at least for now! Vet did CBC & found that Molly is severely anemic, & her ALT level is higher than it was last year. We don't know why so we'll try her on the prescription diet for kidneys & liver, & a vitamin that we can just put on her food that will hopefully help the anemia. Vet said to find out more about the liver we'd have to do an ultrasound, which she doesn't have, so she said she refers the people that want to do that to Spokane or WSU. Ummm, yes, remember Rugby. I asked if we did that if we would be likely to find out anything that we might be able to treat differently other than the diet & vitamins anyway & she said probably not. At Molly's age I don't think we would be doing any extensive surgery, & I doubt we'd opt for chemo if it was cancer anyway. But my vet felt all around Molly's liver & kidneys & didn't come across anything that seemed liked tumors to her, although no guarantee. She drew extra blood so she could test for some kind of auto immune something or other, but when she checked the blood on the slide, it didn't seem to be that. She knows about all Molly's fatty lipoma lumps (HUGE & many), but she still feels those are just superficial. She didn't give Molly any vaccinations today because we don't want to tax her system right now. So I guess the idea is to try the vitamins & see if that helps with the anemia & weakness. Kidney & liver diet might help support those, for awhile anyway, & we'll just have to watch her & love her & see how she does.

At least I got to come home with my dog, & she is resting comfortably right now! Sure glad I have this place to come to when I'm stressing! You are all wonderful......

Ah...so glad to hear Molly's back home and things are optimistic!

We did an ultrasound for Danny (vet came to our vet's office with portable equipment) and it showed nothing. We're just watching his ALT. At least, I think that's all we're doing...he went in for a lipoma check yesterday and I had his liver levels checked. Waiting for those results. Fingers crossed.

All good thoughts headed your way that Molly will show improvement...or at least not go in the opposite direction...and stay comfortable!

Actually, I'm back to being stressed again!
I really appreciate all of you! Molly is off her feed, I would say....I've never seen her leave anything in her food bowl & walk away until yesterday morning. So far she doesn't seem to like the L/D canned food sample from the vet, nor the K/D dry food sample. Tonight I ended up going back to her old regular food & she ate some of that, but probably only half the normal amount she would eat. I had to sit with her & hand feed her while she laid there. I let her lick some of the vitamin off of a measuring spoon & she seemed to take it o.k. like that, but didn't like it when I put it on that food from the vet. She had another episode while I was at work today--dh said she woke up & did that dry heaving sound again & got up off her bed & went stumbling through the house & went over to the corner where I normally feed her & she collapsed down. He said he wondered if she is choking, & I wondered the same thing.......This morning when I took her out, she was in a hurry & kind of pushed the door open with her nose. After we finished outside & came back in, I notice what looked like bloody snot (sorry!) in about 3 places on the door. Very strange. I was sure it had come from her, but she didn't really cough or sneeze while we were going out the door.....I'm wondering if she could have something in her nose, or maybe something wrong back in her mouth or throat. If she did have something like that, I wonder if it could be bleeding enough to make her anemic, & draining into her stomach or something? I'm sure I'm grasping at straws as I always do here, & I hope my vet doesn't think I'm totally insane by now. She probably does--I've probably been going to her for about 27 years.......

Anyway, I'm emotional & distracted, & maybe 13 1/2 years is all we get. I hope Molly will get better, but I don't want her to suffer.

To top everything off, dh had met me at Wal Mart so he could help me pick out new eyeglasses. On our way driving home in separate cars, we both saw a little Chihuahua get run over by a car, which was very sad & upsetting......

I’m sitting here thinking how hard this must be for you. Molly must know & feel the depth of your love for her. I hope she gets better too.

If I were you I'd check her heart. There is medication for heart disease, and will help her, if that's the case.

I don't like the anemia though. Have you checked for TBDs? I really hope there is nothing bleeding inside.

    Sending more good thoughts.
