Back from the vet with Opal. Dr. Wanda did an exam and agreed that her ears are clean and not damaged and that Opal's vestibular episode was a stroke. There is no evidence of a brain tumor.

We see less eye nystagmus today and Opal's gait is a little more steady. She's on a homeopathy (Cocculus) that helps support the healing progress. We take it one day at a time...

When Cookie had what the vet thought was a stroke 2.5 years ago, he told me to give him a quarter of baby aspirin a day. My guess was it had to do with blood coagulation. Cookie never had an episode since and I stopped the aspirin, in the end I figured it was an allergic reaction to medication.

I hope Opal continues to improve and won't have an episode again. Good to hear the vet doesn't think it's a tumor. My vet had said that the only way we'd know for sure is to do a CT scan, I opted against it because it'd require sedation.

An Opal update: We see slow progress daily with Opal. She now has part of the upstairs to roam around, instead of only the recovery hallway. Keeping her comfortable and safe is our goal. She's still head-tilting to the left and sharp left turns throw her off balance. Her appetite is still all there, as are her potty needs.

My vet had said that the only way we'd know for sure is to do a CT scan, I opted against it because it'd require sedation.
Yes Berna, that's how we feel as well. Right now Opal needs her rest and mild exercise.

Thanks for keeping Opal in your thoughts and for the well wishes, we appreciate them all.
