Opal needs your healing thoughts and prayers, pls...

We had an emergency with Opal early this morning. She was perfectly fine when I let the girls out for their morning business, Ursa went in the house, but Opal just stood there gazing. Within seconds she lost her balance and was very wobbly. My first thought was a stroke and then vestibular disease. Rushed her to the E-vet and the probable diagnosis is "geriatric vestibular disease". The necessary tests have been done and now we watch and wait for the next 72 hours. Opal is on anti-nausea meds and homeopathic Arnica Montana (as per her primary vet).

May is Opal's birthday month, on May 20th she'll turn 13. Just yesterday with our walk Opal and I met an old neighbor and her dog and I bragged how good Opal is doing at her age, and now this. Our hearts are hurting for Opie. Please keep Opal in your healing thoughts, and prayers help, too.

    Thanks.

It's very distressing and it can look like so many other things but is probably the one you want her to have, not stroke. Maybe ear infection would not be so bad. Sis's dog had it, for the month Sis's Vet said was typical. A month to the day he just stood up and walked again. Yes, you read correctly, he could not walk. He was 12 and went on to well past 16 with head tilt that diminished over time. It was pretty darn scary at first though. Can Opal walk outside to potty? Laddie could not and Sis herself took longer to recover than he did when she put her back out lifting and carrying out 45 lbs. of dog.
