    A random Boomer update

Haven’t been here in awhile. Thought I’d update how Boomer’s doing (he just gave a big sigh and settled onto the rug to wait me out).

Other than his periodic bouts of nausea, he seems like any senior dog that’s slowing down. He’s game as ever for anything fun but for shorter periods of time, gentler slopes, and shorter distances. The house has quite a few giant towels on the floor to catch his drool (from nausea - we have meds on hand if it gets bad which it hasn’t). I’ve re-trained him to get into the car well before jumping onto the seat (and to get out in reverse) so it’s easier for him.

I try not to think of his condition because, hey, live in the now and all that. Except when he gets nausea. I sit with him on the floor, think about how great dogs are, and gently scratch his ears until his nausea passes. His appetite for food hasn’t changed though. I know he thinks we open the fridge especially for him (which, okay, sometimes this is true). All told, normal on the food front. Normal on the come-play-with-me-let’s-have-fun front too. So this is a 👍🏼 update.

[I was going to update the original thread about his liver condition but there seems to be a time limit on reviving old threads.]

Boomer still looks good. I see just a few white hairs and his eyes are nice and bright, clear. I can't remember his age, but I would say 8 years old or should I say young. He really does look good.

I can’t take credit for his youthful look! That’s the way he is.

I’d say the SPCA got his age wrong but Boomer was turned in by his first family. They filled out a pretty comprehensive questionnaire about him, so his age should be accurate.

I agree he's looking good for all he's going through. I don't even see any silver hairs on his muzzle and my 5 1/2 year old is already getting gray. I'm glad he's hanging in there!
