    Poor Opal!

Katie had a UTI with blood in the urine and some clots. Was a bacterial infection. Thing was, she never showed any signs just one morning started the multi-squat thing. Course of antibiotics and recheck in 10 days and all was good.

    Sending healing prayers.

Thanks for all the well wishes! Opal and we appreciate them!

Appointment today went well, Opal was a trooper having to lay on her arthritic back while the pee was drawn. Funny thing happened, while we're getting ready to position Opal on the nice doggy bed, Opal starts peeing full throttle, and since I was on the floor already (the techs weren't yet), I quickly pinched closed her urethral opening to stop her from emptying her bladder, there was just enough in her bladder for the pee sample.

The pee sample looked yellow and cloudy, instead of bloody red with clots in it. We're hopeful... Opal is on 14 days of antibiotics, plus our home treatments.

For being 13+ years old and a stroke survivor, Opal amazes me/us every day.

Sister is still on the home treatments and is doing great. If her UTI reoccurs, she'll go to the human-doc, as pet-vets aren't allowed to practice on humans - too bad.

I hope her treatment turns out to just be a routine UTI. Her crying out and waking you must have been rather heart wrenching! I'm glad things are calming down.
It wasn't just crying out, it was screaming out. Ever since Opal's stroke she's become more vocal. I woke up in a flash and my heart was pounding.

All positive thoughts for Opal being on her way to a full recovery...and no more reason to scream. (That had to be totally unnerving!)
