We are actually introducing fish oil into our 12 yo's regime at the recommendation of the vet.
We are using Nordic Naturals capsules. The dosing is 1 capsule for every 20 pounds. Our girl is 70 lbs, and doing the math.. doesn't quite work out since you can't cut a gel capsule in half!!
I was leading on the side of caution and giving 1 capsule morning and 1 at night to see if there was any adverse reaction. And gradually increase to the appropriate dosage over time.
My vet said that was perfect to start because it could cause loose stool and if given all of the dosage in one shot (meal) could increase of chances, better to split the dosage between am/pm feedings.
As for the "half" capsule... she said we could go to the high side with no problem as long as the dog is tolerating it.
As for the Glucosamine, we have been using GlycoFlex 2 for years, so I can't speak to introducing them simultaneously.

We backed the dosage off and he seems to be doing well. We are also giving him some pumpkin each day.

Georgia who has softer stools has a problem with her glands emptying normally so the vet suggested giving her pumpkin to firm things up. She has pancreas problems so we have to be careful with what we feed her.
    Thanks Everyone!!
