I'm so sorry for the loss of Hershey. Prayers.
Friends, I just wanted to let you know that Hershey went to heaven today. I have the sweetest vet that I adore. He shed a tear along with the tech that has taken care of Hershey from day one. It was extremely difficult, however, I feel some peace knowing I did the right thing. My vet let me know that he felt it was the right time too. Therefore, I feel no guilt of helping my girl go to heaven today.
As much as I feel peace from my decision, I feel so empty right now too. My heart is completely shattered. I feel so numb right now. I appreciate your prayers and kind thoughts more than you know. I hope I have the ability to help others in the future as you have helped me.
Now to work on healing my heart. "Healing" may not be the right term as I will never be the same. But, I do know that I want to love another sweet baby in memory and honor of my Hershey. When the time is right, I will bring another lab into my life. I can't imagine my life without a lab by my side. I want my daughter to share that love if she desires.
Please give your babies, human and furry, an extra hug tonight. The time we have together is much too short. I will see Hershey again someday and that gives me hope. I can imagine my grandfather and uncle are doting all over Hershey in heaven right now.
Now...to work on this broken heart...=(
Love to you all,
Jenny

It's so hard to lose our dogs even when we know the time has come to help them move on. My condolences for your loss . . . hoping your happy memories of Hershey bring you some comfort as you grieve.
I read this on a bench at CSU:
“It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them.
And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog,
and I will become as generous and loving as they are.”

I am sorry for your loss. You will go through a range of emotions and maybe even second guessing. It was time and you made the right decision. I helped 4 Labs to the Bridge in 5 years or so. Not easy at all, esp when one was only 7 but had lymphoma.
you will know when you are ready.

I am so sorry. Run free Hershey.
