NSAIDs vs. Aspirin. I'm not a pharmacist, but I had to do some research when Lynn was on Trocoxyl for her hip arthritis and I learned that this drug, being an NSAID, belongs to the same group as Aspirin. There are probably different types of NSAIDs, with different emphasis on COX-1 and COX-2 inhibition, but their side effects seem to be quite similar. For anybody who is curious to learn more about these drugs, here is an interesting link:

We are thinking now that he had an episode of vestibular disease - which I had never heard of until I did some research on possible strokes. He has all the symptoms. It cannot be identified even through X-rays or an MRI - and from my reading - vets often do not know what it is - and have the dog go through an MRI to rule out stoke. We have discontinued all meds (I only have him aspirin twice) and a pain pill once. He is improving - but may always have a tilt to his head. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Really sorry to hear this. Have no experience with this kind of issue, but we're both keeping our fingers, paws and dewclaws crossed, so there's no major permanent damage and the problem is manageable. Good luck! M&M

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Maxxie is 15. I have tried a ton of things. I took him To Aqua Paws which is like water therapy. I bought him a "Help 'Em Up" harness, they are great but he hates it. I have stopped walks longer than a block or so. He does still like to go to the park so we drive ( its 2 blocks from my place). He is on Tramadol & Medicam. One thing that worked right away was Cartrophen. He was just dragging his back legs a few months ago. I would have to left him from the back end & get his legs into place & then he would walk. it was brutal but he actually recovered from that. anyway: I adore my Vet & do what she suggests. she is always right when it comes to Maxxie. I love your picture too. Just love the old dogs

Thank you! Congratulations on getting Maxxie to 15! I can only hope that Moby can get there! He is slowly getting better - I may try him on a short walk by the end of the week. Maxxie must be pretty amazing!
