Good luck! I hope he's OK and there is something you can do to help him.
He's had what we suspect are mild seizures every couple months for over a year now. At his age, with no other symptoms, it is most likely a brain tumor, but given that he held steady for so long, it is most likely very slow growing. He's perfectly fine (for his age) at all other times.
Unfortunately, he's had 3 episodes in the last 10 days, so we think it's time to see if there is anything we can do for him - hoping maybe seizure meds can keep him going for a while longer.

Good luck. They probably have to do bloodwork, unless it has been done in the last few months. Has the vet considered liver or kidney issues, given his age? Sometimes changing to l/d can help if it is a liver issue, and the meds are different.

Why Does My Dog Have Seizures?
Annette47 (09-23-2014)
We'll see what they say, but he hasn't had bloodwork done recently, so I'm sure they will want to run some. From what I understand though, usually by the time liver or kidney issues cause seizures, it's usually advanced enough that there are other symptoms such as loss of appetite, etc. We'll see what they say though. He has absolutely no unusual symptoms other than the seizures.

Good thoughts for your visit tomorrow.

Poor baby. I'm sure it has nothing to do with his kidneys. When Chico started having problems I noticed he drank copious amounts of water and then peed. Peed A LOT! At times, he had trouble holding it because he had to go so bad due to all the water he drank. The vet thought it was just from the summer heat but I knew something was up. Weird thing, though, the blood work didn't show anything for six months or more (because of his cancer his bloodwork was done monthly). When his appetite started getting bad, that's when his bloodwork showed kidney problems.

I didn't know kidneys or liver could cause seizures. Hope it's something that can be alleviated for him, poor sweetie.
