Ok were home now. Vet showed me the xrays she sees a vague area of maybe something probably not it could have been from his panting but nothing standing out to say the cancer spread or an infection. Nothing. Also they heard zero coughing!! I picked him up then drove to pick up my dd and then home. No coughing until we walked in the house. Wt.....So now what. It's so far only a bit but this is how it started last night. She said if it continues I can go back fora cough medicine and so.e antibiotics. He seems happy though. I was at first thinking maybe it was a piece of popcorn....

If it's kennel cough chances are it will resolve on its own. But your vet says there are no signs of infection, which is bizarre.

Maybe the vet didn't hear him cough because he coughs when he is excited?

I was surprised to read online that KC can resolve on its own. I was afraid to wait though because of his tumor, that because of it his immune system could be down allowing KC to get bad quick. But she says she sees nothing in his lungs..maybe a spot of irritation on his esophagus, but again-that could have been from the panting. Last night the coughing didn't get as bad as the night before, not as often & not as loud or hard. He seemed good. This morning he ate like crazy like usual but instead of throwing toys at me to play after breakfast he went to lay down & snooze. I don't know if he's just more tired from not sleeping so well because of the cough or if he doesn't feel good. Then I had to leave for work so here I am. I guess I have to wait this out a bit anyway-to watch him more like tonight to see if things are getting better or not.
I am annoyed though-how could it be that he was there from 10 am until 4:30 and NO ONE heard a single cough yet we walk in the door at home & he coughs?? Windows are open in my house its warm...but what can be causing this? no paint..so chemicals...no smoke ( husband only smokes outside & away from everyone)...no clue...

Sending prayers for Montana. I am so sorry, you sound so frustrated and I get that. Whatever it is, hopefully it is gone as quickly as it came.

SO I called the vets office this morning asking for the antibiotics & cough suppressant she said she's give me if he didn't stop the coughing. She wasn't in yet but the receptionist said she'd get back to me. So I wait & see. He is still coughing, still not quite as bad as the 1st night but I see no huge or steady progressive decrease either, he improved day 2 but is plateau now. Make sense? Dakota is afraid for the coughing so she's goes to other rooms. Still didn't throw a toy at me today...still eating & smiling though. Wt...it seems everything is always a mystery. I gave him some honey for his throat in case...and here I wait for another callback.

Update...Montana is one drugged up dog. I am not liking this but I have no choice at the moment. He is currently on Rimadyl for the inflammation. Added today now are an antibiotic and hydrocodone for the cough. I googled hydrocodone and saw it compared to vicadin. Drug s scare me. I gave him everything he's supposed to have and now wait to see. Paws crossed it's just silly infection and this takes care of it all.

Another update: the coughing is subsiding, making me think all the more that it was KC. I really only hear it now after he drinks which I read KC can cause it after drinking. I'm feeling a bit sad today though because twice this morning he turned down bits of food. he ate all his breakfast but when I sit to have my cereal he always wants a few bites & always gets them He came in and wanted it so I held it out but he took a few sniffs & turned away. I know I know its to be expected. Especially when his sense of smell is fading due to the tumor. He sometimes takes a while to go potty too because of this-he's trying to sniff a good spot but cant.
We played soccer yesterday though-something we just haven't done is so long & he LOVES. He was up on his back legs pawing at the ball in the air it was just pure joy. So i am so thankful for that. Just felt a bit sad about the cereal thing this morning though....
