    harness recommendation

Buddy has regressed to the point where he wont even
try to go upstairs anymore, even with the leash.

so, I know someone posted (Patty maybe?) a harness
that had handles both above the shoulder and above
    the hips ?

Any input appreciated ! Its been a bad weekend.............

I was looking into these when my senior boy Tournie had a fall last year when he was 14½ years old. I don't have stairs in my house, it was more to help him up if he slipped in an area where he couldn't get any traction i.e. tiles (I had covered most of the tiled areas in my house with rugs to prevent my seniors from slipping, but sometimes they wanted to lie on the cool tiles and then would have trouble getting up. I didn't get any of these harnesses in the end and ended up using a towel to help Tournie up, but I think I will purchase one of these type carriers as handy to have in case of injury or for when my current or future dogs age and it looks uncomplicated to put on, so wouldn't cause the dog any distress in getting carrier on.

the one you are asking about is called the "Help-em Up" harness, and in my opinion is the best all around harness for senior dogs needing some extra support. Unlike the belly sling listed above, this one can stay on your dog all day without issue and allows you to lift at the hips and torso to distribute weight evenly and comfortably. It might look a little complicated at first, but is actually incredibly easy to get on and off once you do it a few times.

I'm sure the Large would work for him. I don't have one for Rocko, but we do sell them where I work so I am very familiar with the harness on dogs of multiple shapes and sizes The only dogs I have seen in the XL are Mastiffs/Swissies, etc. You might want to consider getting the "U-shaped" bottom half of the harness as it can make it easier to urinate without getting it on the harness for males.

We just got a large for our 98 lb guy. At first it does seem complicated but it works great. Perfect to help our post surgical guy in and out of the car. It is sturdy and nicely padded. If you go to their site they sell a regular and one with a different back end for a small percentage of males. I thought at first I should have gotten the special one but the Ortho Surgeon said "no, the normal one was best."
