I'm so sorry for Ellie and you. Know how hard it is. Have a heart-to-heart discussion with your vet.

Thank you all so much. Your kind words got me through the day. Good news she ate tonight and the vet called and we have her on a good plan to get her feeling better. Tonight I have relief and I am so grateful.

So happy you have a plan for Ellie... like many here on the board, I've been through these seasons with seniors. It's so very hard, but knowing that they know they are loved and what they give you in return, have gotten me through many touch days. Prayers for healing and comfort for you and Ellie.

Both our dogs that passed last year would eat. Hudler had to be hand fed, and only what he wanted to eat, but he'd eat.

For us the big deciding moment was thinking about 3 things these dogs absolutely LOVED to do when they were young and healthy. When we could come to terms that they could do none of these things anymore, we knew it was time to help them cross. The big thing with Hudler, he absolutely hated pee and poop around him. And he became incontinent. His legs were bad, so he couldn't get up on his own, so he spent the day laying in pee and poop. We helped him and cleaned him and changed bedding when we were home, but the 9 hours we were out of the house, the poor thing had to lay in pee. We helped him so that he could keep his dignity.

It's a hard thing. But I try to look at it from the dogs view, I know for me, I would have loved to keep them around longer.
