Is it time?? Ellie part 4

So things seems to have taken a turn for the worse in the past few days. She is not wanting to eat much but she will eat a bit of steak or chicken with coaxing. She is still drinking water and still going on walks but seems super lathargic. I called her vet to see if there are any options (maybe prednisone?) and I am supposed to hear back tomorrow. I just don't know what to do. I don't want to give up. Maybe she will perk back up as she has done before. We are on month 9 of this roller coaster and I am breaking down more and more. Thanks for listening.

You poor thing. My heart is with you. Wait for the vet. I think that your pet someone tells you when it is really time. She is eating some so for a lab, I think that spells hope. Keeping you and your girl n my heart.

My heart breaks for you and Ellie...

I would also wait to hear back from your Vet. I think it is a good thing that she is eating some and drinking water.

I know how difficult this is for you....been there myself with other dogs in my life.

It is never easy...just remember that dogs live in the moment...she knows she is loved and you have given her a wonderful life.

Please keep us posted...prayers for you and Ellie.

I would talk to the vet to see if there are any other options.

With the two that we've lost, we knew it was time when they refused food completely, even with coaxing and yummy treats.

We just went through this again, only with a friend's retriever mix with hemangiosarcoma and other tumors all through him. After a while, they just do not have room for food as the pressure in the abdomen from the growing masses increases. It seems painful. You could try pred, for appetite more than chemo effects, but she may have other medical issues that contraindicate it. (I cannot remember her details.) A leg tumor would be painful. I would value pain relief most of all for a friend in hospice care and in pain.

Hugs to you. It is a hard situation.
