I am so sorry. She wagged, knowing the love you shared, letting you know she knew you would give her whatever she needed, if it could be within your power. You freed her from the frail body holding her back. She knew you did it with care and kindness. Please take good care of yourself; you took great care of her.

So very sorry for you. I know your pain, and you can take comfort knowing that helping Ellie pass with dignity was the ultimate act of love. There will always be a little piece of her forever in your heart.

I too echo the sorrow and loss that the others have expressed of Ellie. You did the right thing by helping her as you are her guardian and responsible for her.
When I lost my Cracker (my heart dog) this group of people reached out and not only gave me much support, but encouraged me to look for other. It was not to replace Cracker, but to help other dog in need of love and companionship. Now, 3 1/2 years later, my Gabe is that dog. I only lasted about 2 weeks with no dog in my house and it needed to be a home again. When you are ready, that dog that needs love will find you and your heart will be glad, as will we.
Rest Gently Ellie
