    growth on Loki's foot

Just noticed Loki, 11 years old, has a growth on his toe. It seems to be attached to his toe on his right paw and is growing right under his toe nail. It looks more or less like a skin tag and is about the same length as the toenail. It does appear to hurt, as he doesn't want us to look at it. I believe it has been bleeding, maybe because he keeps chewing on it. Does anyone have any information or experience with something like this? Thanks.

Could be anything - I’d get a vet to look at it.

Yep, vet, especially since he is 11.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it turns to be nothing!

Definitely a visit to the vet. It's in a spot that it's constantly being walked on.

    Sending good thoughts.

Good thoughts that it's something benign. I'd definitely have a vet take a look.

Vet ASAP. Fingers crossed that it's nothing, and I don't want to scare you, but that's a common spot for melanoma.

Thanks everyone. The growth seems to be shriveling up and hopefully will soon disappear altogether.

Hmmm ... wonder if it was a histiocytoma. More common in younger dogs, but Scully had one on her belly when she was a senior.
