    Doggy Dementia?

My 13 1/2 year old puppy has been acting strangely these last few days - and I am worried on many counts - particularly since I have to move out of my house into another smaller one from the country to town. I think he may have a cracked tooth or something because he yelped when I gave him a frozen Kong yesterday - and he never yelps. (He ate his regular food just fine.) Then - the last few nights he has needed to go out and use the bathroom - which he does from time to time and is not unusual - but night before last - he just stood outside the door. (He has done that before as well - as though he forgot what he was doing but not in quite some time.) Then - three times yesterday - he went into the closet even though I sort of took him right to his bed. One time - he literally got up from his bed and went into the closet - until I went and got him and brought him back to the bed.

Any ideas? I am so worried about how he will do in the new transition of moving - since he is getting confused at times here!

    Thank you.

My Buddy has similar issues, I have him on this :

Amazon.com : Cholodin Canine 180 Chewable Tablets : Cholodin For Dogs : Pet Supplies

it has helped alot, another thing I give him when the anxiety hits harder
at nite is this : Anxitane

couldnt get a link from Amazon as its out of stock, but do a search for
canine cognitive dysfunction and you will find lots of supplements and
    reviews.
its kind of like sundown syndrome with alzheimers patients
    Good Luck !

I believe Melody had a form of dementia. She would stand and stare into space. She was around the same age. It's hard to watch. Hope that the supplements help.

    Sending gentle hugs.

After dealing w/ this w/ my first lab (~13.5 when pts), all of my seniors are put on Cholodin at ~9 yrs old now. Have not had an issue since, knock hard on wood!
