You are welcome. I hope you are able to find a combo of supplements and pain med to help her.

I'll check in and let you know what's up.

Shoot, it's disappointing that Lucy isn't feeling better. It might be worth a chat with your vet to find something stronger to help her. Cartrophen and Adequan are also not NSAID's and are used for arthritis. I have just finished Ram's month of weekly injections of Cartrophen with no side effects. It has really helped him to do more walking to build up his muscle after his recent TPLO. I really hope you can find something to help Lucy.

I talked to the vet who is quite open. I also started glycoflex yesterday. I dumped the GLM and my house doesn't smell anymore.

Her vet suggested acupuncture and said it works for some people. She told me to up her fish oil dose to 3600 mg from 2400. Suggested injections or NSAIDs if all else fails.

So I'm keeping a log so I can note when I started, and if she stops groaning when she lays down. If after 4-6 weeks of the double dose of glycoflex she's still groaning, or she gets worse during that time, I'm going for the pharmaceuticals.

I have not tried acupuncture but cold laser therapy has helped Emma also.

How does cold laser therapy work and how much do you pay if you don't mind me asking?

It is a regular laser but not warm and the laser is concentrated on the painful areas. My vet charges $35 for a single session or you can buy a package for $120 and if I am remembering correctly the package included 6 sessions. We only go occasionally now because her pain seems to be under control with everything else we are doing. I really think the 2 weeks of laser therapy in the beginning were really helpful in jump starting her pain relief. If she seems to be a little off I run her in for a treatment and it seems to settle her right down.

Thanks, Tammy. That's reasonable. You live in a similar suburban area as I do where prices are high. I was expecting $70 a week.

My vet is a good friend as well as being much more reasonable than the others in the immediate area. My mom lives not terribly far from me and the price her vet quoted was higher. I honestly think the vet she uses charges her extra just because they can, lol!

It's been 2 1/2 weeks since Lucy is on Glycoflex. That plus 2 prior weeks of GLM. I noticed last week that Lucy was a little more energetic one morning when she went to do her business and the following morning she took off after a rabbit in the yard. She still groans slightly when she lays down but it's sporadic.

A few minutes ago she jumped up on my bed for the first time in almost year. It sits high and she's always been afraid and has to situate herself to get psyched up. I'm shocked she didn't pick a lower piece of furniture and today it is pouring out so she is wet and stinky, but I am thrilled.

So I think she is feeling better and I hope she will continue to.
