Lucy got picky her last year. She quit eating cheese (her all time favorite) and peanut butter (also a favorite). Her last 2 months, she got put on Hill's w/d for diarrhea. I was surprised, because the vet had always put her on i/d. She had such good results, I decided to just leave her on it for the remainder of her life. She had always preferred the canned, so I stocked up on both i/d and w/d cans and was alternating. Surprisingly after two weeks, she began to get really, really picky about the canned. I tried the little bag of kibble we'd gotten at the start (that she wouldn't eat) and for goodness knows whatever reason, she ate the kibble very willingly and would eat more of it - not full portions, but more than she ate of the canned. I was surprised, as I thought she would prefer the canned, because it had more odor and I thought, more taste. Nope, the last few weeks, all she wanted was the kibble. (and of course, bits from our food, as long as it wasn't cheese or peanut butter)

Amazing update today: He is acting like the old Montana we all know & love-rushing into the kitchen , eating his dry food again, eating anything I give him! I think he may have gained a few lbs. already. I realize this wont last forever-nothing does, but he seems to be feeling great again and if I can get a rally from the help of Prednisone, so it will be. I was afraid to start it and on the bottle it says twice a day fro a week then once a day for a week. No one has mentioned beyond that...? Maybe they just didn't want to project that far. but cant he stay on it longer if its working??
Meanwhile-Dakota had some type of seizure yesterday. She started shaking so bad like she was scared to death, layed on the floor...same thing happened over the summer and within minutes she was fine. I feel ike the cards are stacked against me lately. I cant catch much of a break.
When i left for work both dogs seemed fine. Taking deep breaths as I type this so I dont jinx myself. And them.
We've all been through periods like this and you just keep taking slow, steady breaths. You are doing a remarkable job keeping it all together. Sending good thoughts.

Gosh the support you guys share here is really uplifting, and I appreciate it.
So glad the pred seems to be causing a rally. I’m guessing they didn’t write the prescription for longer because they wanted to see how he responds, but given his diagnosis, there should be no reason you can’t keep him on it long term.
