Thank you, she is much better. We are keeping her on a low dose of pred for now for comfort, since she is constantly itchy without it and the licking and scratching leads to her skin getting infected. The infections both in her ears and skin have cleared up, and the hematoma is gone, and she is much happier.

Unfortunately for me, she is NOT an easy dog to pill. She won't take them in her food, even the tiny 5 mg pred tablet, no matter what we do. Even if we use a pill pocket or cover them in peanut butter, she licks off the tasty part and spits out the pill. Giving them to her by force, she bites... HARD. I actually knew how sick she was when she was eating the pills without complaint at first, and when she started refusing them I had no problems getting them into her. As she's started to feel better... well... one of my thumbnails is purple from her biting me the last time. I do have a system which involves making a packet of gravy mix, chilling it so it congeals, crushing the pills to a powder that I mix with a bit of the congealed gravy and giving them by syringe, so we're back to that... twice a day. Of course keeping my old girl comfortable is worth it! *sigh*

awww She looks like a sweetheart in her picture. I was going to suggest the syringe to get her meds into her. Sarah went in a couple weeks ago for an ear hematoma too, they put in a drain tube for a couple weeks, and now her ear is healed up.

I hope Sprite is feeling better and glad that her ears have healed.

Yes, she's feeling much better, thank you! Though she did get excited and manage to fall down the stairs yesterday *sigh*. She was limping after that but it's almost gone today. She's not too active any more, so resting her isn't hard at least.
