    Muscle vs Joint Pain

Mudd is 14 and for joints I am giving him LubriSynHA. This seems to be working.

Vets recommends good ole Rimadyl which I am not too fond of for the Muscle pain.

Anyone else have some suggestions for Muscle pain besides Rimadyl?

Whatever happened to the 1/2 aspirin per day?
Had an old school vet recommend that 20 yrs. ago for joint pain.
Make no mistake, I am not a doctor though.

I am giving my Lab Advanced Hip & Joint Chewables from Springtime Inc. I have given glucosamine, MSM and Chondroitin for years and didn't see results. These chewable have Boswellia Serrata extract and I think it's helping our guy with arthritic pain from his two TPLO surgeries.

MSM all the way for muscle/ connective tissue pain! It's a sulfur supplement. I take it personally and have for almost (omg) 20 yrs??? Like Vit C, the excess is excreted in urine so no chance of overdose. You can buy at most animal feed stores and it comes as 100% pure in many labels.

Traumeel. MSM is a knock off of the old DMSO that was around for years. It was intended for use in arthritic patients but the results were mixed and the side effects were significant so not much else was done. Traumeel is a homeopathic remedy for muscle pain in people and works well in dogs. For arthritis, I like their T-relief for arthritis which is the old ZEEL product that has been used for years in Europe for dogs with arthritis.

Have not seen anything published re: side effects of MSM Dennis. Do you have some references? DMSO had the sulfur effects in breath etc, but really... been taking it here since ~97 personally and giving it to the crew....

I used to take MSM but developed an intolerance to sulfur (have many sensitivities and intolerances, no doubt due to shaky adrenals). I had no side effects for years...and my sinuses seriously miss it.

I'd given it to my asthmatic cat to keep his asthma at bay (worked wonderfully)...no noticeable side effects with Charlie, either.

My two pooches, on the other hand, get gurgly and look very uncomfortable with even the slightest dose of the stuff.

Three previous dogs, all Labs, had no issues.
