OK, so some of you may remember me trying to get weight off of Tide after her surgery last December. Well, I started by cutting back her food (CN L&R at the time), and adding green beans. I also up'd her exercise. She ended up losing very little weight, if none at all, so I decided to switch to a low fat food. I made the switch to EVO, Reduced Fat and I saw results within the first couple of weeks.
Fast forward to now. Tide is FAT, once again. I noticed her getting chunky again this summer, and at that point, she was ridiculously active. She honestly doesn't get any crap to eat other then a marrow bone once a week, if that, so I'm not sure WHY she's gaining. I've cut back her food to 3/4 cup twice a day with green beans added as a filler, and, NOTHING. I see no progress in her weight loss. I walk her every morning before work, for at least 20 minutes (fast walking). when I get home we go for a shorter walk, then later in the evening, another 20-30 minute brisk walk. Not to mention we play with her inside and also in our yard. On the weekends we try to do as much as possible with her, walking, hiking, swimming (mostly summer), etc. She gets a frozen Kong in the morning with non-fat plain yogurt, cottage cheese and a tiny bit of low fat PB to close the hole, and carrots as treats, that is all. At this point, I'm at a loss. I am going to up her exercise, once again, but I honestly don't want to cut her food back anymore. She eats a total of 1 1/2 cups a DAY now and this poor dog acts as if she's starving to death. I need help. It's really for her benefit, and that leg.
