Going Through Old Papers - Dog Related

Have been going through boxes of old papers and found our Dalmatian's papers. Her name was Patch and she was amazing. A loving, gentle, people loving dog. I found her puppy papers from the breeder and what a treasure trove it is. Started out with "Dogs, General Information", "Do You Really Want To Own A Dog", both by the AKC, her puppy contract which, among other things, stated that she was to be returned to the breeder if for any reason we could not keep her, pamphlets on welcoming your new puppy, first aid for dogs, facts you need to know before becoming a puppy parent. facts about crate training and how to do it properly, feeding instructions, caring for your dog's teeth and her audiogram. You may or may not know that Dalmatians carry the "white dog gene" where deafness can be heredity. Also her AKC registration. She was not a show quality dog since she had one totally black ear which is a major fault but a fantastic family member. I almost typed pet but in fact she was part of our family from the minute she crossed the threshold.

Patch was the first dog DH and I got together. She lived with us for almost 13 years. Brought back so many fantastic memories.

I did the same with Tanner's stuff after he passed. I had all the documents, pamphlets, notes I made, first vet visit, initial pictures, etc. It's surreal going through those items because the time flew by and I remember in vivid detail those moments in the beginning. Bittersweet for sure.

Do you have any pictures of her? It's amazing how peaces of paper can bring back memories. Patch sounds like an amazing dog.

Just can't bring myself to toss these papers even though it's been 15+ years since she passed.

Berna, I'll have to find her pictures and post some.

She sounds just lovely. I'd like to see photos too. Would you have to scan them to digitize them?

I have friends that show Dalmatians, and that all-black-ear mismark, is called a "Patch"! Great name for her! :-)

I did not know that - thanks for the info. We named her that because of all her dots and I was heavy into quilting at the time, sewing different colors together just like she was.

She was beautifully marked, even spots, even distribution, perfect conformation, all except for her silky, shiny solid black ear flap.
