    Old dog, young heart

Yesterday afternoon, Kimber indicated she wanted to go out. She had just been Advantix'ed so no collar for 24 hours, but no big deal, she sticks close to me in the yard. Sure enough, after three or four tosses of the frisbee, she headed back to the house; that was enough play for her.

Last night, the temperature dropped, the wind picked up, and a fine, icy rain began. Kimber asked to go out. DH figured it was just a quick potty outing, so he opened the door and waited for her on the porch. She toddled over to her potty spot, just a few feet from the porch- and then according to DH, her head whipped up, she made some sniffing sounds, and then she took off! Pitch black night + pitch black dog - collar= DH hightailing it through the yard in his socks.

He caught up to her pretty quickly (in the back yard, far from the street) and ushered her furry butt inside. She was one wet, smiley lab.

    Oh, Kimber, don't ever change.

LOL while it must have been a little scary at the time, having Kimber set off for an evening adventure and seeing her smiling face after sounds like it was well worth it.

Good girl Kimber!!!!! Bad girl Kimber!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

Ever since Sophie's escape adventure last year, I put a Nite Ize strip light on her collar if there is any chance we will be out after dark.

This is the one I've been using: Nite Ize Nite Dawg LED Collar Cover, Pink - Chewy.com

I just ordered two of these: Nite Ize NiteHowl LED Safety Necklace Dog Collar, Red - Chewy.com

With it getting dark so early we are out walking at dusk and after dark quite often, so I figure better safe than sorry!

Haha! I wonder what Kimber smelled?

My brother told me the story of around the time he got Sierra as a rescue. She woke him up at 4am to go potty. They didn't really have a backyard, so he let her out in the front without her leash and collar. She saw someone walking their dog (a dog she had met before) and she ran off to go greet them and play. My brother had to run down the street after her in his skivvies.

Makes me laugh. How many times have we all run out in not exactly outside attire. Let Bandit out and didn't notice the gate had blown open. He had crossed the street to his favorite pee mail spot. Out I ran in my robe and slippers.

Kimber, may your heart stay forever young.

Kimber! You don't want to be on the naughty list, do you? And acting happy about it on top of your antics? Tsk, tsk!

Your husband isn't the only one to run across the yard in his socks after a black dog at night! It's hard to be mad when they're so happy about being so bad!

Funny how something potentially bad can make you smile. Keep 'em on their toes, Kimber.
