He ate some sweet potato and got up on the couch so we're making progress. I wonder if he ate something dead in the yard like a small rodent. If so, it's possible it was poisoned.
Argos ate his beef roast tonight but four hours later wouldn't eat anything. This is highly unusual and when I palpitated his abdomen, there was some twitching down there. He was quiet but everything else seemed fine. Wagging his tail, walking around, etc. Everybody else got a portion of the same roast (cooked) and they're all fine.
Took him to emergency and the vet basically said that he was fine. Temp, heart rate, etc., all fine. She suggested that we take him home and monitor him. I know something's wrong and gave him his Metacam so that he would at least get his meds and hope that she's right but she was dealing with putting down another animal at the time and the owner was devastated. I can't help but wonder if she didn't do enough to figure out what the issue is.
We left and he's resting now. Should I have insisted that she run the tests? He's 12 1/2 now. I just don't know when I'm being paranoid anymore.

That's always tough- you know your dog better than a vet can discern during a comparatively brief visit and it's confounding when they just can't find anything. I hope it was just a brief period of, I don't know, indigestion? Glad to hear he seems to be acting more normal now. Sending good thoughts to the Big A this morning.

There are no levels of paranoia when it comes to our dogs. We love them and worry over them. I would have done the same thing. I would have asked for blood tests, x rays...
Hope Argos is on the mend.

We lost him. It was a massive spleenic tumor that had started to bleed which apparently is common and most of the time recoverable and he likely did from the first round. This afternoon though something burst and he started to bleed out into his abdomen. He went into shock so we elected to put him to sleep. His chances of getting through the surgery were minimal either way.
RIP Argos. You were such a good boy. You will be sorely missed.
I am so sorry. Run free Argos.
