    What a vet visit!

I found a growth in Rocky's mouth last week. after a freaking out all night I booked with my vet to get it checked out. Vet first starts in on his mobility health and does another tense treatment (this would be our third). Then we look into the growth (and random other tidbits). He said it doesn't' look cancerous but didn't seem too sure what exactly it was. And...he removed it! It went smoothly (just there in the office not surgically) but it was much more than I expected this vet visit to be. Poor Rock. It's off for testing. He has papiloma's (he said they were not the contagious ones like inside the mouth but I am curious if the two are related somehow) on his muzzle so he cotarized it so it wouldn't grow more.

A fairly large bill later Rock and I are both bewildered by the entire experience! haha We had to hurry to finish the visit and I wasn't given any aftercare information so I was on the phone last night trying to get info.

I hate visits like that - but they become more and more common as the dogs get older. Hope all is well with Rocky.

This is the norm for me. No matter how much I anticipate the bill to be it is always hundreds more.
Hope you both are recovering from the whole experience.

Hope you get good results for Rocky's lump.

I had a similar vet visit a couple of months ago. I took Ram to the vet to have a soft lump near his "good" knee checked and the vet gave him a feel all over his body and one aspirate turned into four being sent out for testing. The good news was that the price for testing is the same up to 4 samples, and they all turned out to be lipomas. I've never thought about the vet in terms of fear and hesitation but there is some of that now.

Well, that was kind of a one stop shopping vet visit, the good thing is, you didn't have time to get stressed! :-)

I am glad they are benign lipomas, good thoughts for the mouth lesion to be negative too.

I just ran a girl in for some pre breeding exams and tests I wanted to run, and $300 later... LOL

i hat to say it but 'screw the bill' and i hope the dog is perfectly fine.

this has been a mighty expensive vet month for us. but do far, all are progressing, fingers and paws crossed. please let it continue.

give us a follow up when you get it.

Haha this isn't a particularly expensive MONTH but year :P And not doing it wasn't a consideration. But Funny that I thought it would be a very quick an cheap visit (though one likely leading to follow up which could have been surgery which scares me at his age) and it turned into an $800 one.

Rock is doing well. Not sure when the results will come in, probably delayed due to holidays. I am not really worried to be honest.

And yes I am very happy to have gotten so much done in a single visit
