New Home for Mr. Blue Face Angle

Some of you may remember the other thread about my Blue faced Angle fish. (Found here: https://www.lab-retriever.net/board/t...tt-rescue.html) well, not long after that the tank started to leak at one of the seams, not bad but didn’t want to chance coming home with 135gallons of salt water on the floor so we decide to find another tank. We ended up with a 200 gal tank that measured 4ft x 3ft x 2.5ft tall and used 2’ welded square tubing as the stand. It’s been a couple of months getting the tank set up to the point where it’s running and functioning but there’s still a lot of wood work that needs to be done. I wanted to show you what we have done so far and will post more photos as we make progress.

    The Tank:

Thanks for the great comments! We've had fish tanks in one form or another for over 31 years but only salt water tanks since 2000. We moved to Alabama in 2008 with work and have been renting till this year when we bought a house. Renting and having to move every couple if years wasn't the best thing for a saltwater set up but we made it work. We actually bought this house with something like this in mind and to see a vision finally coming together is a great feeling. The plan is to get more fish and some type of coral ( hard and soft) that the fish won't pick at it and kill. Typically everything is more expensive especially the fish so we are hoping over the next couple of months to have this project fairly done. I'll update with pictures as things come together.

Scoutpout it's a refugium sump system we set up. Basically its the natural filtration for the tank. There's two overflows in the back corners of the tank that drain down into the tanks below. The one with the plants helps naturally filter out impurities like fish poop and uneaten food kind a like the mangrove works. The other tank below receives the overflow from that tank on the left and also has a protein skimmer to mechanical remove impurities further. There's also the pump that pumps the clean water back into the main tank to start the process all over. The tank with the plants is 30 gallons and the other is almost 50 gallons so basically there's over 260 gallons for the whole system.
May be this will help explain what refugium is:

And this for the protein skimmer:
Protein Skimmer - What is it?
